What’s wrong with this world? We’re going to hell in a handbasket, I tell ya. GM files for bankruptcy. Twitter. Conan O’Brien hosts the Tonight Show. A pregnant man (“man” used loosely – http://www.malepregnancy.com/). Robert Plant does country. The Detroit Tigers. And now…
“Dark Tangent”, aka Jeff Moss, founder of Defcon, has been sworn in to the Homeland Security Advisory Council. (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10258634-83.html)
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together … mass hysteria!!
Either I don’t fully grasp the concept of the HSAC, or I don’t fully grasp the concept of Defcon. I think this really runs contrary to the “mystique” of the somewhat anti-establishment reputation held by this organization that has an annual spot-the-fed competition, holds lockpicking seminars, and has a slight tilt toward the conspiracy theorist crowd.
I’m kind of over Defcon anyway, and this just dropped it another notch. Don’t get me wrong, I’m interested in what twists this imparts on Defcon and what the reaction will be. I’m sure this will generate a lot of chatter and will be really good for the “underground community” in so far as it will bring a certain level of professional exposure to the industry, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough to get me back to Vegas. Even if I can expense it, I’m not sure if the allure of a free trip to Vegas can save Defcon in my book - kind of like how Elizabeth Berkley naked still couldn’t save Showgirls.
Spot the fed. Whatever.
